Rwanda has reduced its gasoline prices by 2 percent, lowering the cost from Rwf1,663 to Rwf1,629 per liter, while diesel prices remain unchanged at Rwf1,652 per liter. The new prices took effect on August 7 at 7 a.m. and are set for review in two months, according to the Utilities Regulatory Agency.

The utilities agency announced the adjustments via social media, attributing the changes to recent fluctuations in international oil prices.

According to S%P Global, as of August 2024, international gasoline and diesel prices are experiencing significant fluctuations due to various market dynamics. Gasoline prices have seen a slight decrease in the U.S., averaging $3.448 per gallon, reflecting a minor drop from the previous week. In contrast, diesel prices remain more stable, with the current average at $4.305 per gallon, indicating steady demand and supply conditions.
