BK Group Plc has named Uzziel Ndagijimana as its new Chief Executive Officer, replacing Béata Habyarimana, who has led the group since August 2022. Ndagijimana, the former Rwandan Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, will assume his new role on August 14, 2024, following the Board of Directors’ resolution and pending regulatory approvals, the Group announced in a statement via social media.
According to the statement, Mr. Ndagijimana’s appointment, which takes effect on August 14, 2024, was made following the resolution of the BK Group Plc Board of Directors dated August 13, 2024, pending all regulatory approvals.
“We are delighted to have appointed Dr. Uzziel Ndagijimana as Chief Executive Officer of BK Group Plc. His leadership and vast experience in the economic and financial sectors will be instrumental in driving BK Group’s strategy and future growth ambitions. Dr. Uzziel will work closely with the CEOs of our five subsidiaries—CEO of Bank of Kigali Plc, CEO of BK General Insurance, CEO of BK Capital, CEO of BK TecHouse, and the Executive Secretary of BK Foundation,” Chairman of the Board of Directors of BK Group Plc, Jean Philippe, said in the statement.
Dr. Ndagijimana is an economist with a recognized financial professional background. Prior to his appointment, he was the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning of Rwanda, bringing with him a deep understanding of the financial sector.
Over the past two decades, Mrs. Habyarimana has held executive positions at prominent financial institutions such as BMCE – Bank of Africa Rwanda, Agaseke Bank, and Banque Populaire du Rwanda. She is recognized as one of the pioneering female leaders in the Rwandan banking sector.
