NCBA Bank Rwanda has appointed Maurice Toroitich as Managing Director, marking a strategic move to strengthen its position in the country’s financial sector.
Toroitich, a seasoned banker with nearly 30 years of experience, takes the helm at a pivotal time as the bank seeks to expand its corporate and retail banking footprint.
Toroitich is widely recognized for his transformative leadership in Rwanda’s banking industry. As the founding CEO of KCB Bank Rwanda, he was instrumental in establishing the institution’s market presence. His subsequent role as Managing Director of BPR Bank Rwanda further solidified his reputation, overseeing its evolution into one of the country’s top financial players. Toroitich also served as Chair of the Rwanda Bankers Association, further affirming his influence in the sector.
“Maurice’s track record speaks volumes,” Chairman of NCBA Bank Rwanda’s Board of Directors Dr. Benjamin Rugangazi said.
“He joins us at a time when we are deepening our efforts in corporate banking and expanding our retail footprint. With his leadership, we look forward to accelerating the bank’s growth trajectory and delivering enhanced value to our customers and shareholders,” Rugangazi added.
Toroitich brings a blend of technical expertise and strategic vision to his new role. A Certified Public Accountant and Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, he holds an MBA from Strathmore University and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Nairobi. As a certified Executive Coach, Toroitich is committed to building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of excellence.
In his first remarks as Managing Director, Toroitich expressed optimism about the bank’s future: “I am excited to build on the great work my predecessors have done and on the bank’s strong foundation as we steer NCBA Rwanda into the next phase of growth. I look forward to working closely with the team at NCBA and the wider financial sector in Rwanda to deliver sustainable value for all stakeholders and the country at large,” Toroitich said.
